The nature of the landscape around St Just had absorbed my creative concentration up to that time; gradually this awareness became extended to less visible aspects, to the air itself.
The Lands End peninsular is a strip of coastline continuously exposed to storms and every dramatic change of weather the Atlantic and sun might conspire to rain or shine upon it.
With such powerful prevailing winds as well as the abrupt changes in temperature that are normal between land and sea, presence of these weather patterns become a preoccupation.
The weather gradually came to effect changes in the form and rhythms of my work as these patterns became the subject -matter that reflected, in many senses, the atmosphere itself.
